Implementing Positive Changes Through The Subconscious Mind |
Frequently Asked QuestionsStatistics show that 95% of all illnesses are linked to stress. Time Magazine's June 2002 cover story discussed how anxiety and stress have come to the forefront as the number one problem facing the human condition today. The medical community agrees that stress is often the root cause of many illnesses. The Sidman Solution® relieves stress and anxiety, and in many cases people actually heal themselves of major emotional and health problems. The following is a selection of the most Frequently Asked Questions we've experienced. We hope this will help you better understand the services at The Sidman Institute and how The Sidman Solution works. How?
Exactly how does the Sidman Solution® work? What?
What happens in the sessions? Where, Who & Do?
Where do our self-imposed limitations come from? Why?
Why is the Sidman Solution different
from, and better than, other forms of hypnotherapy?
How?
Exactly how does the Sidman Solution® work?
The Sidman Solution® is a unique short-term therapeutic process working directly
with the subconscious mind to produce long-term gains. It is designed to
penetrate the conscious defense mechanisms to release outdated information which
has been programmed in, and stored there (much like a computer). It is a
trademarked system derived from numerous other modalities, including hypnosis and other healing arts. Typically we offer a program of six sessions
for a complete life breakthrough. The client talks during each session and
remembers everything. Each session is two hours.
How does one break the cycle of imprinted negative behavioral patters and
change comfort zones? Most people attempt to change when
the “familiar” becomes uncomfortable enough to want to change. This means that
their repetitive patterns became painful enough to want to get rid of them. Many
vain attempts to change occur as a result of taking personal development
classes, reading self help books, going to psychotherapy, running to weight loss
clinics; saying affirmations, and medicating the problem ad infinitum. These
attempts are only treating the symptom and do not break through to where the
behavioral patterns were set up. In order to break the cycle, it is necessary to
go to the root cause of the problem and eliminate it where it was formed. The
Sidman Solution® was developed to address this by breaking through the defenses
that have falsely protected the individual and kept them stuck. It is my
experience that only by ferreting out the initial emotional memory and healing
it can any real permanent change occur.
How does your methodology "conquer the inner enemy?" The enemy only
appears to be an enemy. It’s a result of the way the person interpreted the
world as a child, and is stored in the subconscious mind. It now is in conflict
with the adult world in which they live. The way they know that it is in
conflict is that they feel resistance to getting what they want. They can’t
accomplish what they set out to do, and feel limited. In order to conquer this
“inner enemy,” it must be re-educated. It is in this highly individualized,
delicate process, that the transformation occurs. It is different for everyone,
as we are all unique. Some people may require “tender-hearted-ness” and some may
need to be confronted and challenged to give up their erroneous beliefs. When we
uncover the “child’s truth," discover how it was obtained and then eliminate it,
new information can be installed.
How do we develop the inner skills to control or obey new thoughts, images
and feelings that can help us overcome negative actions? Clients of The
Sidman Institute are individually guided during the confidential sessions in
this trademarked method. Clients begin to cultivate new skills automatically as
they recover their own power. This is an experiential process, as no amount of
directions can match the discovery process. Each client is entirely unique,
therefore their needs are addressed as they present themselves. This is a
breakthrough program, and therefore by simply stating that the changes happen as
a result of the process, seem too good to be true, but they do.
How does hypnosis help one overcome fears or phobias? The fear or phobia
may be based on a particular object or experience one is afraid of, or it may be
covering up a deeper emotion. The Sidman Solution® addresses these fears and
phobias by listening to the history of where and when it has surfaced and the
circumstances surrounding the triggers. The emotional triggers usually lead to a
deeper range of emotions that are then taken back to the first reaction and any
event, related or not related, that caused the emotion. Phobias are interesting
because they may only be symbolic. By restructuring the emotional memories, the
phobia disappears.
How does hypnosis help someone in his or her relationships? Since our
“reactive patterns” start in childhood, people are sensitive to the issues that
were present then, yet they have grown up. When other people “push their
buttons” they still react in this extreme fashion, even though they wish they
hadn’t. People are told they are being “defensive,” and in fact they are. This
is what defense mechanisms do. They try to protect you from a perceived threat,
although the threat no longer exists, hence the “phantom foe.” To further
describe this you would have to read Dr. Sidman's newest book, Instant Inner
Peace!. You credit your method for
curing someone of insomnia, improving self-esteem, relieving stress and tension,
enhancing one's memory and concentration and relieving depression and anxiety.
Do we hold more power over our mind and ourselves than we realize? Yes, we are
more than just our minds. We are aligning our spirit with our highest self. By
ridding ourselves of hard emotions we become free of our limitations. We can
then allow our highest nature to surface and flourish. We find that it was
already in there and we had just covered it up with false information that was
crippling us. The ultimate outcome of The Sidman Solution® is to reach the
understanding that no limitation needed to ever be accepted without our
permission and never needs to be again. Tremendous clarity and inner security is
found as a result of this realization and, when one is integrated in this way,
there is real healing and peace.
How can your method help someone professionally? People worry about their
performance, or they have fear of public speaking or sales (cold-calling,
follow-ups or closings), or they are disorganized, have personnel conflicts
and/or can’t concentrate or they procrastinate. All of the anxious behaviors we
address personally can become a problem at work resulting in stress or worker’s
comp claims, absenteeism, poor health, quitting their job; and this costs the
employer considerable money to rectify. From the CEO perspective, they may be
overwhelmed, have the inability to delegate or trust subordinates, have anger
problems, and depression problems. We help the corporations by serving them in a
confidential, warm and friendly, effective manner achieving beneficial results.
Is hypnosis safe? All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. No one will ever do
anything against his or her will. It is very safe. It is not sleep and they are
very aware of everything that is going on. What's the stigma associated with it?
Losing control, giving up your personal power, being under someone else’s will,
fear of the unknown, and not knowing what’s going to happen to you. None of this
is true. You are always in control. In fact, it is a heightened state of
awareness where you are very focused and alert.
What?
What happens in the sessions? The first hour is investigation into the
individual's personal and professional history and evaluation of his or her needs and
desires to change. The second hour is an interactive procedure skillfully
implementing the reconstruction of the reactive patterns which have been limiting. We create a new “database
or the mind” from which to operate in the outside world,
which frees them from their previous negative behavior.
What are the myths floating out there regarding hypnosis? Movies such as
Manchurian Candidate mislead the public that you will not know what you are
doing or that you become a Zombie. This cannot happen with hypnosis. How does
the medical community view it? It is receiving more acceptance than ever before
because people are seeking it out. However, we have a distance to go before
becoming mainstream.
What do you mean when
you say: "emotions can kill"?
Not every emotion can
kill, but the burden of toxic emotions can become internalized. These emotions
may translate to tension, which is stored in the cells causing extreme stress on
internal organs. This stress can be converted to illness, both physical and
emotional. Individuals are always struggling to achieve internal harmony but,
after repeated failure, "give up" to illness, finally surrendering to defeat.
This can be released by working with The Sidman Solution®, which releases
tension and stress; allowing bodies and minds to revert back to a naturally
healthy and peaceful state.
What is interactive dreaming? The subconscious mind is very abstract,
therefore when we call to mind the behaviors we wish to deal with, they may
appear in a symbolic form. When we interact with these symbols, it seems like a
dream, even though the client is fully aware of their surroundings and what is
happening.
What type of problems do you address most often? The most frequent
problems are the symptoms people suffer with most, i.e. weight, insomnia,
anxiety, smoking, stress, relationship problems, compulsive behaviors, anger,
phobias and insecurities. Whatever leads the client to us is just the tip of the
iceberg. Often they wish to improve their performance, i.e. sports, sales,
sexual enhancement and the like.
What are some of the worst or most challenging cases you've run across?
Did you cure someone of cancer? Did you reform a criminal? Did you help someone
lose 100 pounds -- and keep it off? Did you get someone to stop hurting
themselves with an addiction -- or others with violence? Every day each person
has amazing turnarounds at the Sidman Institute; some from cancer, some deterred
criminals, yes, people have lost tons of weight and kept it off. Others have
stopped their addictions and a number of domestic violence cases have diffused
their problem.
Where, Who & Do?
Where do our self-imposed limitations come from?
We receive emotions and beliefs from the environment, our parents, our teachers,
our siblings, and our friends -- almost by osmosis while we are growing up. We
are like a little monkey mimicking what we see, hear and observe. We carry
emotions for those we love and think we are helping them by suffering what they
suffer.
Who is "the phantom foe"?
This refers to a perceived threat
that no longer exists. It has been covered up by a defense mechanism that is
defending us against this threat. We need some defenses. Appropriate defenses
keep us safe from real danger. The defenses we do not need are inappropriate
fears; they are imagined foes (or enemies), much like an imagined limb that
still feels pain. There is no real danger any more, yet the program originally
put in place perceived a danger at the time. What is left is anxiety, which is
described as an undefined fear, therefore the Phantom Foe could be described as
anxiety. We cannot go back and change our histories, but we can change the
perception stored in the database of our subconscious and its remaining
effects.
Do we really sabotage ourselves with our self-destructive behaviors?
Inner struggle occurs when you have consciously aimed for certain outcomes,
but keep sliding back into old familiar behaviors. These become absolutely
no-win, self-sabotaging behavior patterns. For example: You want to lose weight,
stop smoking, or quit drinking, but you fail at every attempt. You know you
can't afford to spend extra money, but do it anyway, finding yourself feeling
defeated when the bills arrive. You over-extend yourself with too many
activities, winding up pleasing no one, especially yourself. You want more
discipline keeping your resolutions about work, making more money, cleaning the
garage, etc, but you resist, and find yourself feeling ashamed for
procrastinating. Even though these self-destructive behaviors are controlling
you, they can be changed by working directly with the subconscious mind and
eliminating their negative hold on you.
Do people cancel surgery and opt for hypnosis? There are no available
statistics that can show if, or how many people may have opted out of surgery in
favor of hypnosis. Recent surveys have shown that more people are choosing
methods, such as hypnosis, guided imagery and meditation, prior to making the
drastic decision to have surgery. I have developed a cassette album to accompany
surgical patients through their experience. It has been proven that by focusing
the mind on comforting music, gentle guided imagery, and pleasant and safe
thoughts, the patient actually reduces swelling, speeds their healing process
and lessens overall recovery time. Ideally, Western medicine will grow in the
understanding that hypnosis is a viable adjunct to healing, rather than an
alternative. It truly is a complimentary venue rather than a choice.
Why?
Why is the Sidman Solution different from, and better than, other forms of hypnotherapy? The
term hypnotherapy encompasses a wide range and variety of therapeutic
applications, some more extensive than others. The Sidman Solution,
utilizes hypnosis to facilitate an altered state of semi-consciousness, taking
the patient deeper into the subconscious, bypassing resistance from the
conscious mind. The process is simple, predictable, effective, and long lasting.
The patient himself is the engine of change, with the therapist merely guiding
the patient through the process of change, clearing the mind of unwanted ideas,
negative emotions, and erasing the mind’s faulty programming.
Why
is it so difficult to lose weight, leave abusive relationships or pursue the
career we really want?
Our subconscious mind works as the operating system for our lives.
Whatever we originally program will determine the outcome of our behavioral
process, even when we desperately want to change our conscious reality. There
is a ceiling to our beliefs established in childhood, based on our experiences
and how we interpret them. The subconscious mind cannot be strong-armed into
abandoning those programmed beliefs. It must be re-educated. Making change,
meaningful change, begins with the subconscious mind. The Sidman Solution,
is a specially designed therapeutic process for changing our original
programming, which frees from negative and life limiting behaviors.
Why are people hesitant to accept hypnosis in their life?
The media has created a taboo around hypnosis,
making people think they will lose control and be under someone's
"spell." There is so much misinformation about hypnosis in the
public’s mind. Movies and television have depicted weird spooky phenomena,
making people scared of hypnosis and afraid to reveal their secrets. This is
also based on misinformation. No one will reveal anything they do not wish to
reveal. Individuals might also fear they will do something against their moral
or ethical character while in hypnosis, however they simply would not. Hypnosis
works only if they want it to work because it facilitates their own inner power.
The client is always in control.
